New Case Joins Propecia MDL
Many men across the country are seeking judgments or settlements from manufacturer Merck due to side effects from their male pattern baldness medication Propecia and have chosen to file a Propecia lawsuit.
These men claim to have suffered physical, emotional, and financial harm because of the problems they had after using Propecia. In addition to the known side effects such as sexual dysfunction, an increasing number of complaints involve communication problems, cognitive issues, memory loss, and depression.
Propecia linked to sexual side effects
Propecia (finasteride) was created to treat symptoms linked with male pattern baldness. Because it interferes with the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), it is effective in treating male pattern baldness. But the medication has been reported to interfere with normal sexual function in users.
Some of the long-reported sexual side effects include: lower volume of ejaculate, difficulty in achieving an erection, ejaculation disorders, impotence, and erectile dysfunction.
A high percentage of men who have used Propecia have reported these side effects say they last over the long term and, occasionally, are permanent.
A 2003 study indicated that 50% of men experiencing sexual side effects after using the medication recovered prior sexual function after cessation of the medication.

Wisconsin man files lawsuit against Merck for Propecia side effects
A new plaintiff has filed a case against Merck after he used Propeica and suffered from sexual side effects. The plaintiff, a Wisconsin resident, filed his case on October 26, 2012 and joins the Propecia multidistrict litigation (MDL) pending in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York (Brooklyn).
The plaintiff was 35 when he began Propecia therapy in 2005 and took it for a year. He has stopped taking the medication, but still experiences side effects including those of a sexual nature.
When cases are consolidated because they are similar and against a common defendant, an MDL may be formed. In this particular MDL, the plaintiffs are alleging that Merck failed to warn them of the possible problems associated with taking Propecia.
All cases currently in the MDL are being overseen by Judge John Gleeson.
